Which kits are suitable for competing in LEGO® League or internal club competitions?
LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential and SPIKE™ Prime are used in LEGO League competitions, but now with the new Computer Science & AI kits available, you can expect them to be the main kits used across age groups for future competitions.
How long does setup and pack-away take during a typical club session?
Sessions are designed for rapid management, thanks to colour-coded sorting trays and element mapping grids. A typical tidy-up can be completed in under 5 minutes at the end of your session.
As a group facilitator, you only need to provide the kits for children to enjoy, but it creates a good opportunity to teach kids to sort and pack away sets independently.
Do STEM Club leaders need formal teacher training or IT experience?
No. If you plan to follow the library of unit plans that each LEGO® Education system provides for free, you’ll have everything you need to properly facilitate an engaging and impactful session.
However, if you want to support children to think beyond the box, at STEMBricks we offer accredited facilitator training to help you help your club get the most out of every experience.
How does Brick-by-Brick® methodology work for STEM clubs?
Brick-by-Brick® is an evidence-based framework that structures group building activities into defined peer roles (such as Director, Supplier and Builder). In a STEM club, this structure eliminates arguments over pieces, ensures equal contribution and helps neurodiverse or less confident members build social communication skills through shared, positive goals.
Are LEGO® Education kits suitable for clubs with mixed age groups or varying skill levels?
Yes. Both the physical hardware and software are scalable. Younger or novice club members can focus on structural building and visual block coding, while older or more advanced members can program complex sensor logic or Python scripts on the exact same unit to take things to the next level!
